Pochettino confirmed as PSG boss

PSG have confirmed the appointment of former Southampton and Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino, on a deal till 30th June 2022. The former PSG player Pochettino, is back in management after getting sacked from Spurs in 2019.

French giants, Paris Saint Germain have inserted a further year option into the deal. Pochettino, replaces Thomas Tuchel, who was sacked by the French giants on 29th December after two and a half years in charge.

Mauricio Pochettino (seen as one of the best managers in club management), will have a tough challenge on his hands. PSG, are currently third in Ligue1, but are just a point off top league leaders Lyon.

Just like, it rains Manchester … another of life’s certainties (especially in recent years) is that PSG win the league title and at a canter too.

On the pitch, it’s arguably becoming more of an even playing field, but off the pitch the former Tottenham manager will have to deal with the speculation that star forward Kylian Mbappe seems destined to move to Real Madrid.

The French club, behind the scenes are doing all they can to prevent this of course, by offering the former Monaco star a new bumper deal.

One of the things, which seemed to push Mbappe towards the exit was his relationship with former boss Tuchel, so it’s important that Mauricio Pochettino establishes a good relationship with Mbappe quickly. Fellow forward Neymar’s future was also a topic of hot debate, but this doesn’t quite seem to be the case now.

In his previous jobs, the 48-year old Pochettino, has been with clubs, although respectable in stature, but maybe not with the war chest of finances that would be available at PSG.

Having said the Parisians have tightened the belt somewhat, the past few seasons, but with the endless supply of youth talent available at the Parc De Princes.

Pochettino is arguably embarking in a journey similar to the journey he made from the South Coast England, to North West London to Tottenham.

At White Hart Lane the 48-year old was able to develop Harry Kane into the world class forward he is today and also help Hardy Winks fulfil his undoubted potential.

This managerial appointment of Mauricio Pochettino , has the potential to be the match made in heaven, will it? Only time will tell.
