How the mighty have fallen?

For the avid readers of my blog, you will know the comic material I use when referring to the non-Asian.

Their lack of facial hair or their “appetising main courses” (finger food to us Asian’s). But after today’s family dinner with a kids theme, I think my stomach has gone soft in his old age.

This was the same stomach that could easily have a mega mix burger meal at the beloved Dixy’s, with a mini burger too. That is something I can’t do anymore (yes, I have stubbornly tried).

Those days though however, appear to be a thing of the past. Fish, chips and curry could be devoured in one sitting on my own.

Where I can still do that, it’s not with the same authority that I once was able to. Then there is Nawabs Manchester, where you will find the North’s top all you can eat Restaurant buffet.

When I went into there, yours truly with his partner in crime (my twin) would strategically go about demolishing all that was before us on our plate.

Chicken, fish, kebab …. that’s just the warm up, the starters. The times we would go, would have a man vs food feel to it..

Stacks of food, and the encouragement of one another to keep going. On to the mains, where boneless chicken, chicken tikka, naan bread, pasta lasagna and what ever else takes your fancy.

In the hey day it was two plates of starters then two plates of main course. The temptation was to go on, but the threat was real of missing the best part of the evening, the desert.

The dessert, is worth the entrance fee Alone. Vanilla ice cream, with a slice of chocolate cake, then a second go, is the perfect end to the perfect evening.

Days like those are a far Cry. Now, yes it’s COVID season, but my stomach has too become on a lockdown of sorts as I have gone half on starters, mains but the same on dessert (there’s always room for dessert).

I tell you all this information prior to what I am going to tell you now , because with now knowing that, you will understand my predicament.

Regular mocking them for their “party food”. But I too, succumbed and became full from this vey food menu.

Yeah, I made have had a lot of little pizza slices, little Samosas, prawns and fish scampi’s, but this isn’t the same me.

I actually had a food coma afterwards. I did have a Miami double chicken before hand, so maybe I am being a bit ultra critical of myself and my stomach for being a soft touch.

Yeah, false alarm … maybe I am not such a lightweight After all. Praise god 🙂 … it’s over and out from The Bearded Captain.
