Hello, good afternoon my Bearded Soldiers, it’s me your Bearded Captain. I am the leader of all Beards and flag bearer of all Beards on digital and digital broadcasting media. I am that Beard who tries to make people laugh and I am that Beard who tries to make people smile.

My brothers, we need to talk, we need to talk about food, yes the chicken burger. In this post, I want to talk about a new kid on the block, Burgerbox. Located within the car park of the Manchester famous Longsight Market, this place has been attracting attention on social media.

Very much being like a flock of sheep, I decided to drive up (or down) and make the 20-minute drive to check them out. Before that, some shopping in the market was needed and if you’re like me and you find it energy-draining, a nice meal to reward such efforts never goes a miss.

With this food review, I sat in the takeaway, which could cater for a decent amount of people who would want to eat in. There were four to five tables and plenty of space for people to eat, which meant approximately this takeaway could seat about 30 people?

The place was clean, which should be the norm, but dear reader you will be surprised. I ordered the box meal, which came with three chicken strips, chips and a good size chicken burger. My view of this meal, it was very good. Miami levels? That it wasn’t, but the chicken strips were sublime!

Big, juicy and tender pieces of meat melted in my mouth. The outer coating of the chicken is fabulous! If the batter is too crispy, it doesn’t taste nice, soggy batter also doesn’t taste nice! Burgerbox, you pulled this off superbly. Not Dixy chicken level, but still very nice.

I have a big appetite and this did fill me up with this box meal, I didn’t have it all to myself of course as I shared it. How could I forget? There were also two wings in this epic box meal. They too, were well cooked, but not too well cooked. The wings were full of flavour and the meat glided off it as I had bite after bite.

The chips were also nicely done and to top it off were sprinkled with some love, and some red salt. Finally, the last meal item to talk about was the burger. This was the item that wasn’t as good as the other items.

It wasn’t terrible, again it was nicely seasoned and cooked well. The batter was nice tasting and also the spicy curry sauce was something which did give it a nice kick. A little more spice and kick is my preference, but it was still nice.

What did get some marks against it was that the burger did collapse towards the end, which I suppose is forgivable right? There was a lot of meat in there after all. Burgerbox does take card payments, but it’s worth noting there are many cash points nearby.

So overall, this place does put itself in my top five but doesn’t wrestle itself into my top three.
